He was born June 2005 outside under a bramble bush to a half feral cat in the grounds where one of us was working. His mum had abandoned him and his siblings at four weeks old. The baby like crying alerted us to their whereabouts and after the mother did not return to them after two days we decided to rescue them all.
Loving homes were found, but we kept Riley. On rescuing him he had a swollen opaque eye, and was the smallest and weakest of the litter, so we rushed him straight to the vets where it was found out he had an abscess on his retina. The vet didn’t like his chances of survival, with him being so young and weak. As for his eye, the chances of him losing it were high. He was treated with eye drops every two hours, so that meant no sleep for us. He also needed feeding by syringe, as he had not learnt how to lap. But he beat the odds, and after a lot of TLC, he became healthy and has grown into a splendid young tom, although still small for his age and his eye healed well enough for him to be fully sighted.
Unfortunately only one of his sisters survived too.
Riley likes having his independance. He loves being outside exploring and catching things. Some days he goes to far and brings us 4 presants a day which we then have the problem of disposing of them.
Not wanting him to stray afar, looking for queens, as he is now at that age, we decided to get him spayed for his own safety as well.
He loves nothing more on a night time to play in the empty bath with the plug and pinching cotton wool buds from the container on the window sill. These are scattered all over the house every morning, as well as little incriminating paw prints around the bath room. We’re glad he hasn’t worked out how to open the talc yet!
every moring after we have woke up he demands his treats and doesnt stop demanding till he had gotten them.
